about me

At Faster Horse Design, we believe a renovation should honor the past whilecapturing your future vision. Our approach is deeply client-focused, meaning your needs, style, and history drive every decision we make.

We specialize in historically-leaning renovation design, meticulously blending authentic period details with modern comfort and functionality. We don't just update spaces; we revitalize them, ensuring every design choice contributes to a cohesive, timeless, and deeply personal environment.

i'm Sarah Engelke, an Interior Architect with a deep appreciation for design and history.

I began my professional journey in 2009 and launched Faster Horse Design in 2016. My formal training in Interior Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design provided the foundation for my work, which focuses on creating spaces that are both beautiful and meaningful.

I currently live in the Village of Sleepy Hollow, NY, in a 100-year-old American Foursquare with my husband and two boys. This passion for blending past and present is reflected not only in my work but in my own home.

I thrive when collaborating with clients who share a passion for design, respect for history, and a good sense of humor. My greatest satisfaction comes from guiding clients seamlessly through the entire process—from initial design inception all the way through construction completion.

I also love using my design talents to help the community, believing that good design should serve a greater purpose.
